Meet The TEam

Dos Lunas BBQ is the proud creation of Gerardo “Gerry” Luna, a dedicated U.S. Army veteran and barbecue champion, and his son, Gerardo “Jerry” Luna Jr. Their journey began in 2018, when Gerry and Jerry Jr. entered their first barbecue competition. Although they finished last in every category, their passion for barbecue only grew stronger.


At the same competition, they met Chris Webb, owner of Bushmaster BBQ and Grand Champion of the event. Fortunately for Dos Lunas BBQ, Chris generously mentored Gerry and Jerry Jr., sharing his expertise and helping them refine their craft. Since then, Dos Lunas BBQ has competed in professional barbecue contests, building a reputation for excellence.

A Journey Fueled by Passion and Perseverance

Since 2018, Jerry has been catering barbecue across Texas and California, building his craft through hands-on experience, dedication, and a deep respect for quality and tradition. Grateful for every opportunity, he remains committed to delivering exceptional food and genuine service to every guest.



In 2025, Jerry had the opportunity to help launch Bushmaster BBQ, where he trained under mentor Chris Webb, Pitmaster of Bushmaster BBQ. Under Chris’s guidance, Jerry refined his techniques, expanded his knowledge, and strengthened his passion for competition-style barbecue.


Later that year, Jerry stepped outside his comfort zone and competed solo in his first BBQ competition. The results exceeded expectations—earning 1st place ribs3rd place chicken, and 3rd place overall. That experience solidified his passion for barbecue and confirmed his drive to continue growing within the craft.

A Veteran-Owned Business Built on Service and Honor

Dos Lunas BBQ is proudly owned and operated by Gerardo “Gerry” Luna, a U.S. military veteran and current federal employee, along with his son, Gerardo “Jerry” Luna Jr. Gerry brings the same dedication, discipline, and passion to barbecue that he demonstrated in service to his country. After graduating high school, Jerry Jr. moved to California to spend time with family for two years before ultimately deciding to return home and help his father. Together, Gerry and Jerry Jr. are committed to excellence and value the importance of teamwork, taking pride in creating unforgettable BBQ experiences for every event.


Since the inception of Dos Lunas BBQ, Gerry has traveled from El Paso, Texas to cities across a 500-mile radius, seeking out and competing in a variety of prestigious barbecue contests. Notable competitions include Alamosa, Colorado; Midland, Andrews, and Fort Davis, Texas; Ruidoso and Artesia, New Mexico. At each event, Gerry and Jerry Jr. have proven themselves among some of the best cooks in Texas.
